  75.       This file is provided as a convenience for those who may wish to
  76.       register VENDINFO tools OTHER THAN VendView. VendView is free, and
  77.       may be used without further registration or permission.

  79.       The Auto-Upgrade program, which insures that you always have the
  80.       current version of the entire basic VENDINFO tool set, is available
  81.       to users of any of the VENDINFO tools, including VendView.

  84.    ORDERING VendEdit OR VendPrcs
  85.    -----------------------------

  87.       The VendEdit editor (which produces VENDINFO.DIZ files) is a
  88.       shareware product requiring payment of a registration fee. The
  89.       VendPrcs processor (used by distributors, such as vendors, sysops,
  90.       and CD-ROM publishers) is also shareware, with one exception.
  91.       VendPrcs can be used free, without registering, by any single-line
  92.       BBS that charges no fees to its users, and is not associated with a
  93.       business. If you wish to order VendEdit or VendPrcs (or other VEN-
  94.       DINFO products or services), you can do so using the registration
  95.       form below.

  101.       You may order any of the VENDINFO tools or services by completing the
  102.       form found later in this document, and sending it to us in either
  103.       hardcopy or electronic form. E-mail orders are the easiest for us to

  110.       There are a number of additional VENDINFO products and services
  111.       available. You can obtain them at a reduced rate if you sign up for
  112.       them at the same time as your initial registration, since this
  113.       reduces our processing costs.

  124.    AUTO-UPGRADE PLAN

  127.       We're working hard to make the VENDINFO Auto-Upgrade Plan into the
  128.       best value in shareware. Subscribers get:
  129.  
  130.          o  New versions of VENDINFO tools as they are released. These
  131.             tools have been significantly improving all along. We've been
  132.             issuing Auto-Upgrade packages about once every three months,
  133.             including all the basic VENDINFO products: VendEdit, VendPrcs,
  134.             VendView, VendUtil, etc.
  135.  
  136.          o  New registration keys, if needed to "unlock" new versions. Your
  137.             original registration key entitles you to use your original
  138.             version of VendEdit or VendPrcs forever, but doesn't guarantee
  139.             access to all future versions.
  140.  
  141.          o  Additional VENDINFO tools. We're developing a line of utility
  142.             tools that will be provided free to Auto-Upgrade subscribers,
  143.             but will otherwise be available only as retail products. In-
  144.             cluded are VENDINFO-from-ZIP file extractors, very efficient
  145.             script-driven VENDINFO-to-text and VENDINFO-to-database extrac-
  146.             tors, and others as we think them up.

  148.          o  Additional license rights. We're working on new, specialized
  149.             capabilities for VENDINFO, such as the ability to construct an
  150.             electronic media kit or an electronic demonstration kit for
  151.             your product, based on our VendView or VendView for Windows
  152.             viewers. The license for such use of these tools will be
  153.             provided automatically for Auto-Upgrade subscribers, but will
  154.             otherwise require a special purchase.

  156.       We'll add anything we can think of to make the Auto-Upgrade Plan
  157.       attractive to shareware authors and distributors. You can count on
  158.       its becoming a better and better buy as time goes on.

  161.    PRODUCT REGISTRY SUBSCRIPTIONS
  162.    ------------------------------

  164.       Authors are encouraged to send their VENDINFO records to our central
  165.       Product Registry (and are given significant incentives to do so --
  166.       see VendEdit documentation for details). These are made available to
  167.       subscribing distributors immediately, and will also eventually be
  168.       available for custom queries by distributors and users (details for
  169.       custom queries are still being worked out).

  171.       Serious distributors will be interested in full-service subscriptions
  172.       to the Product Registry data, by mail, on-line access, or both. This

  183.       is a great way of discovering new products and authors, maintaining
  184.       current contact information on known authors, and noticing new ver-
  185.       sions of your existing products.

  187.       The mail subscription entitles you to monthly packages containing all
  188.       received VENDINFO records (the first package will contain the com-
  189.       plete set to-date). Due to media costs, these packages will not
  190.       include screen shots (contact us if you want to work out a subscrip-
  191.       tion arrangement that includes them).

  193.       BBS subscriptions provide on-line access to all records, including
  194.       screen shots. We hope eventually to provide software for off-line
  195.       query preparation and very efficient on-line sessions (as well as
  196.       many other useful features).

  199.    VendLib SOFTWARE DEVELOPER'S LIBRARY

  202.       The VendLib Library allows software developers to build VENDINFO.DIZ
  203.       access directly into such products as BBS programs and upload proces-
  204.       sors. It will also be very useful to distributors who write their own
  205.       customized database software, as it will allow them to directly
  206.       access all fields in each VENDINFO.DIZ file from within their own
  207.       software.

  209.       VendLib includes C source, and currently supports C/C++ applications,
  210.       as well as Windows applications via a DLL. Plans are underway to
  211.       extend support to other languages in the near future, but the source
  212.       provides a good guide for writing your own access functions, if you
  213.       prefer. Purchase of this package includes one year of support.

  227.       (e.g., CompuServe e-mail, FidoNet crash mail) and you ask us to do

  230.       Internet), but only if you specifically request it. We reserve the
  231.       right to add a small fee for this (not more than $4.00), but our
